1-2-1 Tuition

One of the more pleasurable aspects of my photography is being able to help others produce fine landscape images. Seeing workshop participants raise their game to the next level is both satisfying and very rewarding. At present I offer 1-2-1 workshop tuition on a day of your choice as well as a number of set day group courses throughout the year.

The 1-2-1 tuition workshop is tailored to the participant's experience - whether a complete beginner wishing to get to grips with camera craft and compositional skills or a professional wishing to be shown places to shoot. The day can be planned around your diary and can include weekdays or weekends. Whether you choose the half-day or full-day option you will receive personal tuition and guidance whilst also enjoying shooting at various locations throughout Dorset. All workshops aim to take in a sunset shoot and include transport.

We look at compositional techniques and the use of available light. We will also go through the key camera settings, including metering, correct exposure, and depth of field - as well as looking at filters, focusing, lenses and the advantage of getting it right in-camera. We look at the influence of the weather, the seasons, and shooting at certain times of the day. Finally, constructive critiques will be given to photographs made throughout the day.

All workshops are aimed particularly at keen amateur photographers wishing to become more creative in their digital landscape photography. If you are more experienced that is fine too - I have a good knowledge of Dorset's photographic locations so you may wish to just come and be shown the prime locations to shoot. Each participant will also receive a copy of my 'Guide to Landscape Photography' course notes booklet to accompany the workshop.
