1 Day Group Workshops in Dorset
One of the pleasurable aspects of my photography is being able to help others produce fine landscape images.
Seeing workshop participants raise their game to the next level is both satisfying and very rewarding.
1 Day Group Workshops
Participants receive a whole day of shared tuition and guidance. (Workshop duration 8 hours max 10 depending on the time of year). Whether you are a complete beginner wishing to get to grips with your camera craft and compositional skills or even a professional, there will be lots to gain from this experience.
Preset Days
Each 1 day group workshop is on a preset day (see dates below) and is generally for a maximum of 4 photographers. (unless stated otherwise). The workshops are relaxed and aimed at new or keen amateur photographers wishing to become more creative in their digital landscape photography; particular attention is paid to composition, filtration, camera settings and even what equipment to carry in your kit bag. If you wish to stay overnight I can recommend local hotels or guest houses to stay.
Workshop itinerary
We meet at a chosen location at a given start time. This can vary depending on the time of year and also where people are travelling from or staying. At this point you leave your own vehicle as transport is provided. After our initial greetings we begin the day with an informal briefing and a chat about the day ahead, often over coffee or a cuppa - I did say it was informal. We then cover a full day shooting at various prime photographic locations, and whenever possible we finish after sunset. As group sizes are small, there is plenty of time for individual attention, shared tuition and guidance. A packed lunch is normally included on group workshops (provided by a local bakery) unless you prefer to bring your own.

Field based
Landscape workshops are generally all 'field based' and cover tuition on compositional techniques and camera craft. For classroom based editing tutorials please see the Landscape & Lightroom Days detailed below (the next one will be planned for September 2012). Landscape & Lightroom Day
Group size - up to a max 12 participants
A workshop with a difference - split into two parts, a classroom based Lightroom tutorial, followed by a field based afternoon and sunset shoot on the Dorset coast.
Cost £69.00 per person
Venue - 'The conservatory' St John's Church Wimborne
10.00am until after sunset

* Editing Tutorial - Adobe Lightroom 3
* Optional photo critique

Workshop itinerary
The morning will be dedicated to a 'Lightroom 3' tutorial, led by expert editing and processing guru Stuart Culley. Stuart is highly regarded as a leading knowledge on all things photographic at Robert Whites Photographic in Poole and in his spare time he teaches at Bournemouth Arts University. What Stuart doesn't know is probably not worth knowing anyway. The tutorial will cover all aspects of the download and workflow procedures associated with Lightroom 3. We will be concentrating on processing landscape photographs in particular and there will be a questions and answers session. The tutorial will be informal and interactive within a classroom environment. There will be an opportunity during the morning for participants to bring along up to 3 landscape prints or digital photographs for a personal photo critique. During the morning, teas, coffee and soft drinks will be available. Lunch is provided and will follow the morning session. The rest of the day will be dedicated to practical landscape photography. We will venture out with our cameras in the afternoon and finish the day with a sunset shoot on the coast. Transport to shooting locations is provided. The day will be relaxed and informal, and a good opportunity to share photographic experiences.
