Hidden Delights
Most people would agree that the county's Jurassic heritage is a good enough reason to pack your camera bag and head for the Dorset shorelines. It is without doubt one of the most spectacular and dramatic coastlines the UK has to offer. But venture a little deeper, and especially to the north of the county, and there are many hidden delights crying out to be experienced. The River Stour meanders its way from the north to the south of the county, itself providing many a good reason to unstrap the tripod. Add to that the numerous mills, abbeys and Iron Age hill forts and we are struggling to know which way to point our lenses first. More likely though, the wooded backdrops alone will preoccupy our creative curiosities and deliver the goods! This workshop is one of my favourites to host, not least because it's based on my doorstep, but also as it is carefully planned for September, when the weather often produces ethereal and evocative conditions. Of course nothing to do with the British weather can be that predictable, but then wouldn't life be boring if it was!
The Itinerary
We begin the day by meeting up on the outskirts of the town of Blandford, known for its brewery produce and Georgian architecture. After our initial greetings, we may take a short stroll to the nearby River Stour to warm up our cameras. It's not unusual for me to guide us to the nearest watering hole at some point in the morning for a welcome cuppa and to chat about the practicalities of photography and necessary techniques. Suitably refreshed, we then head off to a number of different shooting locations for the rest of the day - much of which will be worked around the conditions that Mother Nature blesses us with on the day.
Camera Gear
Prior to the day, I will send out a small list of suggested items to consider bringing along which could be helpful. No specialist equipment is necessary, though, so you can just bring your camera and enjoy the day!
Additional Information
- I do recommended that you bring a packed lunch and enough hot/cold drinks to last you for the day.

Thank you so much again for a fabulous day on Thursday (Hidden North Dorset). I really got so much from the shoots and enjoyed sharing the day with other photographers. When the mist came in later on it was like you'd pre-ordered the weather conditions, absolutely priceless. See you again soon.
