PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE DAY IN BATH
About Bath
The city of Bath has to be one of the best-preserved 18th-century cities in the world. Such is its importance that in 1988 the whole city was designated a World Heritage Site. Of course Bath's heritage goes way back before the 18th-century and is most famed for its Roman baths. The city oozes photographic opportunities whichever way you turn with its stunning architecture and layered terraces and, of course, the people. Add to the mix the unique Christmas outdoor market atmosphere and this is the perfect recipe for a great photographic day. The city is a big attraction for artists, photographers and historians alike.
Experience Day
Our focus will be on street photography and a little bit of architectural photography thrown in. This particular experience day has evolved over the last 10 years and is now definitely one of my favourites.
It's an exciting day
Limited to just 4 participants, our day begins when we meet at 10.30am in Bath city centre. We start the day with a short briefing over coffee/tea before venturing out on the streets to capture the essence of Bath with our cameras. There are no rules, no restrictions, just licence to make photographs within one of the most eye-catching cities in the world. We will aim to finish around 6.00pm, although we may overrun if conditions are good on the day.
Included
The day will include various street photography techniques like zonal focusing, using light creatively and capturing people going about their business. And just to stir your creative juices up I will set you some personal challenges as we circumnavigate the city streets.
Into the shadows
During the daytime hours we hope to grab those opportune 'people moments' on the streets, like buskers and street performers as well as visiting some classic city locations known for their architecture. As the twilight hours approach we will then soak up the colour and atmosphere of the city and the Christmas lights. Tripods are optional and certainly not an essential as the aim is to be as discreet as possible. All levels are welcome, whether you are new to photography or an experienced photographer.
Food
There will be no shortage of places to eat and drink so we will take in refreshments and food at convenient points during the day. If you would prefer to bring a packed lunch that is fine too. We will stop around lunch time for a light bite.
